Artist Statement
Robin Brooks is an artist who works in a variety of media including oils, drawing media, collage, and monotype printmaking. Her motifs and thematic interests include the Maine landscape, the still life, and our human relationship to the natural world. Robin received her B.F.A. in art education from Boston University and earned her MFA in painting in 1984 studying with Leland Bell, Paul Resika, and John Heliker at the Parsons School of Design in New York City. Her works in oil and mixed media collage are in public and private collections.
Additionally, Robin is active in the field of art education both as a teacher and consultant. Robin teaches art to children at the Lincoln Elementary School in Augusta, Maine on a part-time basis. She is also a workshop presenter for the Early Starts program in Maine.
Personal
Robin Brooks was born on November 23, 1957 in Newark, New Jersey. She graduated with honors from West Orange High School in West Orange, New Jersey in 1975. She has been a resident of Maine since 1987. Robin lives in Topsham with her husband Jon Riggleman, a high school English teacher, and their son Ben who was born in 1997. She maintains a studio at home.
